Mid-Term Meeting

Proceedings of the Mid-Term General Body Meeting held on
13th April, 2024

With the welcome address of Dr Kunal Ray, Chairman of the Silver Jubilee Celebration Committee, CPWAC the inaugural session of the Seminar & Meeting started right at 11-00 A.M. Shri Asit Roy, Joint Secretary of the Association presented the opening song.

In the welcome address, President Shri Paban Mukhopadhyay thanked members for their active participation to the seminar and expressed his desire to get more and more dedicated involvement with concrete suggestions for the betterment of the Association.He then paid tribute to the homage of the departed soul of Shri Samir Sen, the Former President & Advisor of CPWAC.

Shri Abhijit Majumdar, Coordinator of Silver Jubilee Celebration Committee, highlighted Samir Sen’s long-term activities with CPWAC. He emphasised that Mr Sen’s leadership was marked by a deep-seated commitment to social causes and equity, leaving an enduring legacy of compassion and advocacy. Mr Majumder also told that while working together, he learnt a lot from him and requested the house to consult the ‘Communicator’ further to know more about Mr Sen.

The President Shri Mukhopadhyay, on behalf of the members deeply mourned for the sad demise of the members, we lost during this period and conveyed sincere commiseration to the bereaved families of the deceased members.

One minute silence observed to pay deepest respect to those departed souls.

After that, started the ‘Plenary Discussion on Health and Finance’ with delegates of the concerned organizations. Dr. Ray invited Shri Nityananda Naskar, Representative of the Mutual Fund Distributor, ‘Reliable Finance Services Pvt. Ltd.’, Kolkata. Shri Naskar delivered an inspiring communication on the importance of Financial Health output to the society and particularly to the Seniors.

Dr A. Uppadhyay, Oncologist, Deshun Hospital delivered a sensible lecture on the disease of Cancer, its causes and possible remedies of the disease detected at early stage. He also discussed about recent developments of the cancer research and present set up of modern sophisticated instruments at the Hospital.

Shri Saurav Dutta, Corporate Representative of the said Hospital highlighted the existing facilities and the overall activities of the Critical Care Unit of the hospital, especially for the Cancer Treatment.

Needless to say, the house appreciated all the lectures delivered and participated actively in the open forum of the session.

The Seminar ended after giving thanks to the Speakers. President Shri Paban Mukhopadhyay felicitated them with Flower Plants. He then announced a break for the G.B Meeting that started subsequently at about 12- 20 P.M.

Chairman Dr. Ray then invited President CPWAC Shri Paban Mukhopadhyay, Co- president Dr Nikhilendu Sekhar Das, Vice-president Shri Jayanta Kumar Mondal, Vice-president Dr Debashish Bhattacharya, Secretary Shri Debashish Bhattacherjee, Treasurer Shri Tapan Kumar Dey to take their chairs on the Dias.

To start with the Meeting, President once again welcomes the members. Co-President Dr. Nikhilendu Sekhar Das read out the minutes of the Proceedings of last G.B Meeting dated 13th April, 2024 and invited members for discussion on the minutes. However, It was passed unanimously by the House.

President Shri Mukhopadhyay read out his message. Following him, the Secretary Shri Bhattacherjee and the Treasurer Shri Dey presented their reports in succession.

Dr. Das requested the members to keep periodical contract with the E.C members, especially in the month of February and September every year to enquire about details of the forthcoming G.B meet and with tangible suggestions. That way, any grievance of unawareness of the details of the meetings could be minimised, he conveyed.

Nine of our members who completed 80 years in this period were gracefully acknowledged and three of them attending the meeting were felicitated with the Flower Plants.

In the discussion session, Shri Anirban Kundu and Shri Vijay Kumar Gond, IICB raised some questions on the balance sheet and Shri Dey satisfied them with appropriate reply. On medical issues, Shri Subrata Ghosh, CGCRI suggested to make an easy axis for communication between patients and Hospitals through E-mail facilities. He also suggested to make necessary arrangements for cashless medical treatment benefits with R. N. Tagore Hospital for CGCRI as before.

Shri Aritram Kundu, Former staff of CGCRI and presently with G.S.I highlighted on the issue of the anomalies of pay protection and incremental facilities of the retirees. The suggestions were noted for further discussion in EC meeting.

With the vote of thanks by Shri Subrata Ghosh, Scientist CGCRI, the sessions ended.

Members were requested to have their Lunch at CGCRI Canteen and to attend the cultural programme after lunch. Members have relished the Musical Evening arranged with the participation of the following eminent singers, Smt. Sarbani Sen, Shri Surojit Chatterjee, Shri Subrata Sengupta, Smt. Mousumi Bhowmick, Shri Sukumar Ghosh.

After this colourful programme, the assembly ended at 6-00 P.M with the Closing Tea.
